2. For National type approval (Electric or Low-volume approved category M1vehicles (cars) exempted from the requirements of ECWVTA, together with N
categories GVNTA)
There are changes to these arrangements with immediate effect. You may apply for an extra 12 months in which to register vehicles that do not comply with any new standard as shown on the calendar above. Derogation will be for up to 10% of the total numbers of that model produced during the 12 months previous to the into-force date of the new standard, with NO limit on the manufacture date of the vehicles concerned. Where 10% would be less than 100, 100 vehicles may be derogated.

Where the derogation to be applied for relates to Heavy Duty Diesel (or Gas) Emissions (88/77/EEC, or 2005/55/EC with 2005/78/EC), the derogation allowed will
be 30%. It is intended that these ‘percentage’ rates will be replaced at some stage by the ‘3-month’ arrangement, as used in the EC Regulations.
